Mental Health and Body Image

The relationship with our bodies is a sticky one. ⠀⠀ It’s sticky for us because it’s constantly changing. Sometimes, on a daily basis. You worked out that day and ate “good” and when you look in the mirror you feel accomplished. The next day you ate “bad” and had a paper due so you didn’t get that work out in that you wanted to... our relationship changes. ⠀⠀ It’s an ever-evolving, always-complicated relationship that we can’t end because that one body is all we’ve got. Thanksgiving and Christmas and whatever other holiday you may celebrate—both of you are going to be there. And you need to get along for the family. ⠀⠀ But think about it, this MACHINE literally powers your life. It’s capable of fighting off powerful bacteria, lifting heavy shit, creating life, experiencing pain, pleasure, guilt, and love; it’s also capable of digesting that heaping portion of Indian food you had last night. Like... your body is a miracle. 🤔 ⠀⠀ And your body looks nothing like mine. Mine looks nothing like yours. UNIQUE. And beautiful in its own right. Take a break from that voice in your head today that’s saying that you need to be more of this or that and own what you ARE. And treat that right by choosing to care for you and your body in some way, everyday. 🙏🏼
